Something to be Thankful For

In my Christian walk this has always been a difficult concept to get my mind around. But this excerpt from one of Max Lucado’s books brings it to life for me.

Jesus promised “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he lives with you and will be in you”.

Can you imagine that?

Note the dwelling place of God—“in you”. Not near us. Not above us. Not around us. But in us. In part of us we don’t even know. In the heart no one else has seen. In the hidden recesses of our being dwells, not an angel, not a philosophy, not a genie, but GOD.

Could it be what they say is true?

It wasn’t enough for HIM to appear in a bush or dwell in the temple?

It wasn’t enough for HIM to become human flesh and walk on the earth?

It wasn’t enough to leave HIS word and the promise of HIS return?

HE had to go further. HE had to take up residence in us.

The Apostle Paul penned, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?”

Perhaps you didn’t know God would go that far to make sure you got home.

Man says, look inside yourself and find self.

God says, look inside yourself and find God.

How awesome and wonderful our God Is. It is not by our power, but through HIS power in us, that we are guaranteed our flight back home.
